About Us

David Charles Simmonds

An original member of Expansion One performance group (1976), has acted, written, and directed for theatre, film and television. David is a founding member of CineVic Society of Independent Filmmakers and currently serves on the board of the Victoria Independent Film Festival. Recently completed projects include:'Fortune Bay' a 30 minute mock soap opera, '2 Tickets to Cairo' a 30 min. episodic shot on 16mm in association with CINEVIC, the Victoria society of independent filmmakers. Both productions were shot entirely on location in Victoria using studio members.

Joe McCoy

Joe Raphael McCoy is a gifted and eclectic teacher of the craft he has been honing for many years as an actor on stage and screen,and as a director.Whether on faculty at Canadian College of Film & Acting, Victoria Motion Picture School, Guest Instructor at Canadian College of Performing Arts, or conducting his "Whirlwind Intensive" Independent Workshops, Joe is known for his humour, insight, and absolute passion as an educator.Credits include; "Da Vinci's Inquest", "the Dead Zone", "The Keeper", "In the Land of the Blind", "Cold Squad" and "Lola".He was trained in the Meisner Approach in particular by Larry Silverberg, author of the only Sanford Meisner-approved texts on the subject.

 

 

John Emmet Tracy

As an actor John has performed in over seventy stage productions, including touring Japan as the title role in a production of 'Hamlet', performing in 'Little Women' and 'Animal Farm' at the Belfry and as the painter Edvard Munch in Theatre Inconnu's 'The Butcher's Apron'. He has also appeared in multiple feature films, commercials, short films, music videos, animated features and episodic television shows, including credits on 'Terminal City', 'The Dead Zone', 'Impact', the Paramount Classics feature 'Beneath', the television movie 'Safe Harbor' and the independent thriller 'Aswang'.

John has over ten years' experience as an acting, technique and scene study instructor. Educational theatre groups he has worked with include Los Angeles' renowned Theatrical Education Group. He is the founder of Wandering Bard, an interactive touring program which teaches fundamentals of Shakespeare and his works to students of all grade levels.

John received his training at Rose Bruford College, University of Manchester (BA in Theatre), the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, The National Shakespeare Conservatory, and has studied under master teachers Uta Hagen, Edward Albee, Lynn Redgrave and Madeleine Sherwood among others.


Ana de Lara

Ana is a professional actor and acting instructor, as well as a novice filmmaker. A graduate of Presentation House Film and Theatre School in Vancouver, her acting credits include numerous stage, television and independent film productions, with recent performances on the TV series 'Terminal City' and a CBS Movie of the Week 'Saving Milly'. After taking a 6 year break to be a full-time mom, Ana founded Stardust Children's Theatre Company in 1998 as a means to combine her two passions: kids and acting. For the last 7 years, she has been facilitating acting classes and private lessons for children and adults, and is currently on the teaching staff at the Victoria Motion Picture School and the Screen Actors Studio. Ana's love for movies led her to study video production at the Gulf Islands Film & Television School in 2003, and has since been busy writing and directing her own video projects in between acting and teaching.


Madeleine Sherwood

A life member of the New York Actors Studio where she worked with mentor Lee Strasberg until his death in 1981, Madeleine continues to attend sessions at the Actors Studio and teach workshops there when in New York.
Some highlights from Madeleine’s remarkable career as a working actor include: 18 original Broadway productions, including the role of Abigail in Arthur Miller’s 'THE CRUCIBLE', Maxine in 'NIGHT OF THE IGUANA', Sister Woman in 'CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF' and Miss Lucy in 'SWEET BIRD OF YOUTH'. The latter two roles Madeleine re-created in the film versions: 'CAT' starring Paul Newman and Elizabeth Taylor and 'SWEET BIRD' with Paul Newman and Geraldine Paige. Madeleine’s other films include 'HURRY SUNDOWN' with Michael Caine and Jane Fonda and 'THE CHANGELING' with George C. Scott. Madeleine has also appeared in numerous TV dramas and had a four-year run co-starring as the Mother Superior in 'THE FLYING NUN' with Sally Field. Joanne Wilson

Joanne Wilson’s credits include the feature 'TRON 2.0' (release date 2011), as well as films 'The Mermaid Chair', 'Stranger with My Face', 'Trophy Wife', 'Whispers & Lies', 'Cross Roads', 'Augusta Gone', 'The Survivor’s Club' among others, and a recurring role in the series 'The L Word'. She has appeared on CBS, NBC, Bravo, Lifetime, Global and Showtime, W, and Showcase. Currently Joanne is in production as a lead in the independent feature 'Cascadia'.

In theatre, Joanne has appeared on stage with the Citadel Theatre’s in 'Henry the IV, Pt. 1' and Nurse Jane Goes to Hawaii, Moliere’s 'Tartuffe' for the Chinook Theatre, and in the Canadian premiere of 'Hooking for Paradise' at Workshop West, among others.

Joanne has also worked as a writer, announcer, interviewer and producer in the broadcast industry for 25 year. As well as reporting and hosting TV programs, Joanne hosts two national radio features 'The Parent Report' and 'At Work with Joanne Wilson', heard on over 100 Canadian radio stations. She is also a successful voice over artist for documentaries, as well as hundreds of national and regional commercials.

Greg Webb

As both actor and teacher Greg has worked for 20 years in the Los Angeles film industry. His credits range from starring in CBS’s The Baron and the Kid opposite Johnny Cash to voice work on literally hundreds of major movies and TV. shows including Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, The Horse Whisperer, The X-Files, etc.

He was associate producer and co-writer of the movie ‘Under the Hula Moon’, starring Stephen Baldwin, Chris Penn and Emily Lloyd. He also wrote/produce/directed/co-starred in Hamburger Helper, a twenty-two minute feature short which made its debut at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. Also; A winner of 5 L.A. Theater awards Greg wrote, produced and starred in the play: ‘To Tell the Truth’.

He originally created his Acting for Directors and Actors workshop at the Watkins Film School in Nashville, Tennessee. As a private coach his recent clients include Grammy-nominated spoken word artist Minton Sparks for her series at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center with guests Rodney Crowell and Vince Gill.

Karl Sonnenberg

Karl Sonnenberg is one of the leading Police and Medical Technical Advisors in Hollywood today. He brings 14 years of police work with the Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff on to the set and into the minds and movements of some of Hollywood's best known A list actors. Karl currently works on CBS's hit show 'The Mentalist' starring Simon Baker. He has helped hone the action skills of Tim Kang, Robin Tunney, Owain Yeoman, Amanda Righetti, Angie Harmon, Joe Spano, Teri Polo and many other actors, from principals to extras. He has also worked closely with some of Hollywood's leading Directors Spike Lee, David Nutter and 2009 Emmy Award winning Director Rod Holcomb to name a few as well as many writers and creators of TV.

Some of his credits include Fox's 'Lie to Me', TNT's 'The Closer', NBC's 'Law and Order: SVU', ABC's 'Women's Murder Club'. Karl is also a current member of the Screen Actors Guild.

Gabrielle Levin

Gabrielle Levin has worked and trained in theatre and film performance for the past 35 years. Her formal training is focused on acting and speech. Gabrielle studied theatre and Arts Administration in England, Stratford, Toronto, Waterloo, Winnipeg, Edmonton and Saskatchewan. Ms Levin performed on stage and in film until 1983 when she assumed a career as an administrator and teacher.

Barbara Poggemiller

Barbara has taught, directed and performed in theatres across Canada including: The National Theatre School, Concordia University, Dawson College, Geordie Theatre (Montreal), Carousel Players (Ontario), Prairie Theatre Exchange (Winnipeg), De-ba-jeh-muh-gig Theatre (Manitoulin Island), Kaleidoscope Theatre, Puente Theatre and The Belfry. She has won a Dora Award, a Chalmers Nomination and a Montreal Critics Award for directing.

This summer she directed 'Pericles, Prince of Tyre' for the Victoria Shakespeare Society. She is presently teaching ‘Physical Theatre’ at the Canadian College of Performing Arts and ‘Movement/Drama’ at the Victoria Conservatory of Music. She is currently writing an original play for Kaleidoscope Theatre called 'The Boy Who Learned to Fly'.

 


Timothy Burd

Timothy decided to be an actor at the age of thirteen after auditioning for the lead in "Rainbow Country." Determined to realize his dreams, he left home, Hollywood bound, two years later. Since that time Timothy has an impressive list of credits that includes Saw II, Deacons For Defense, Missing, and Sue Thomas FBI.

 

 

Jeni Gunn

Jeni Gunn is a stage/film actor, humor essayist and comedy writer. She’s a regular performer at Phillips Comedy Night, and has written material for troupes The Muddy Sundries, Eats Shoots and Leaves, 30 Cent Players and her own venture - This Is Only a Test. Jeni’s one woman shows have been excellently received in festivals around BC, and her first feature film co-written with Joe McCoy is slated to begin production in 2010. Jeni is currently on faculty at Kaleidoscope Theater, and teaches “Laughing In The Dark” workshops to non-profit organizations and at-risk teens.

 


Jordan Clark

Produced and directed the independent film 'Bangkok Girl' seen on CBC and SVT in Sweden through his production company High Banks Entertainment Ltd.

Jordan has worked with CHUM Limited and CTV as a Commercial Producer and currently teaches filmmaking for Victoria IndieCine.
